Kishwaukee College Students Gain Hands-On Experience
Pay-It-Forward House Benefits from Landscape Design Class

Sycamore –September 2, 2005 – The Pay-It-Forward House is excited to announce that Kishwaukee College instructor Jim Knoll, and his students enrolled in the Landscape Design and Construction program, will be developing plans that incorporate hardscapes and thoughtful use of plant material on the not-for-profit organization’s property.

Recently, students working towards their Associate in Applied Science degrees spent time measuring and evaluating the existing landscape at the House located on 719 Somonauk Street in Sycamore.  In the near future, they will present their ideas to Board of Director President Joyce Mathey for consideration.  Their suggestions will then be implemented in several stages based on available funds, in-kind contributions, and volunteer support.

“We are honored that Kishwaukee College, its representatives, and students, have decided to ‘pay forward’ a good deed by getting involved with this project,” said Eubanks.  “The community at large has been very supportive of our efforts and once again we are relying on their generosity.  When the new design is adopted we will be looking for assistance from nurseries—in the form of donated goods and services—as well as area residents who can commit their time, labor, and financial resources to this project.”

If you are interested in helping the House successfully complete their landscape efforts, please contact Trish Williams at 630-513-8149 for more information.
